Techno Sri Lanka 2015 ever so popular

The national engineering and technology exhibition Techno Sri Lanka 2015, organized by the IESL successfully for the 30th consecutive year was held at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre on 09th, 10th and 11th October, 2015. It was declared open on the first day by Chairman, Sri Lanka Telecom, Mr P.G. Kumarasingha while State Minister of University Education – Hon. Mohan Lal Grero and Secretary to the Ministry of Defence – Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi did the honours on the second and third days respectively of the exhibition.


The exhibition has the farthest reach, both locally and internationally, into and among the industry, policy makers, planners & designers, research & development as much as general public and has the reputation as the best forum for showcasing cutting edge technology from around the world through the more than 200 stalls taken up by international trade giants, their local agents, engineering institutions this year.

 

Sectional Committees of the IESL representing the different disciplines of engineering and IESL Chapters from the provinces operated stalls demonstrating engineering features unique to them and of  special interest to the public. Engineering Faculties of all state universities and other higher education institutions that offered engineering education operated stalls demonstrating technical acumen of engineering undergraduates and students. .

 

Special features that have become unique to this exhibition like the Building Clinic which offers free advice to those engaged in building a house of their own  and daily seminars on topics of relevance to the public were ever so popular this time too. The novel feature that got added this time was the Car Clinic where your hybrid or electric car can be tested, all three days adjacent to the ticket gate.

 

Competitions organized by the Young Members Section like the Sphagetti Bridge, Hackathon and Cad Eager competitions had very enthusiastic participation from under graduates adding fun to the event giving encouragement for creativity among the student generation the top 20 inventions at the Junior Inventor of the Year (JIY) 2015 competition, conducted by the IESL for school children from schools all  over the island were given the opportunity to exhibit their inventions at the event.
