IESL Fetes Techno-2009 Winners.

Celebrations, feelings of elation and joy was all around at a colorful National Engineering & Technology Awards -2009 ceremony, organized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), held at the Hotel Galadari in Colombo recently (February 01st).
The internationally famed Channa and Upuli Dance Troupe of the Channa and Upuli Performing Arts Foundation, together with the popular Band Group “Visions”, provided the much-needed variety entertainment to the august gathering consisting of Past Presidents, Council Members, the incumbent President, Eng. (Dr.) Dharmasiri De Alwis and the Secretarial staff of the IESL among others, at the Grand Ball Room. The Chairperson of Sri Lanka Telecom Ms. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena graced the occasion.
IESL President-Elect Eng. (Prof) A.K.W. Jayawardana in his introduction to the 25th Anniversary Year of Techno-2010 to be held in October, underscored the importance of this unique opportunity in displaying the ‘state-of-the-art’ engineering equipment, products and services, under one roof.
Based on the theme “Engineering Today, Tomorrow and Beyond,” the nation feted the outstanding participants who had won Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards under the respective categories, at the Techno-2009 Exhibition held in October-2009, at the BMICH.
Siemens Ltd., bagged the prestigious Gold Award for the “Techno Stall with the Best Display at Techno 2009”.
Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. Won the Gold for the “Techno Stall with the Best Demonstration”.
Industrial Control Systems (Pvt) Ltd. Grabbed the Gold in the “Techno Stall with the Best Display of Engineering Services” category.
The coveted IESL-Gold Award for the “Stall Displaying the Best Local Products” was won by Ceylon Heavy Industries and Construction Company Ltd.
However, the Gold for the “Stall Displaying the Best Local Products”, went out to Mega Heaters (Pvt) Ltd.
The Glamorous Gold Award for the “Best Engineering Students- Final Year Project at the Techno 2009”, was Grabbed by the University of Peradeniya, for the project “Smart Integrated Building Automated System”.
